A–C
Badder/Budder: A soft, malleable cannabis concentrate with a creamy, butter-like consistency. Made by agitating (whipping) BHO extract during the purge process.
BHO (Butane Hash Oil): Cannabis extract produced using butane as the solvent. The base for many concentrate types including shatter, wax, and live resin.
Cannabidiol (CBD): The second most abundant cannabinoid in cannabis. Non-psychoactive with extensive research into wellness applications. Legal federally when hemp-derived.
Cannabinoid: Any chemical compound that interacts with the endocannabinoid system. Includes THC, THCa, CBD, CBG, CBN, and over 100 others found in cannabis.
Cannabis Sativa: One of the primary cannabis species. Associated with more energizing, cerebral effects — though modern science recognizes that indica/sativa distinctions are more terpene-driven than genetics-driven.
Caryophyllene: A terpene found in black pepper and many cannabis strains. The only terpene known to directly activate CB2 receptors. Associated with anti-inflammatory effects.
CB1 Receptor: Cannabinoid receptors concentrated in the brain and central nervous system. Primary target of THC producing psychoactive effects.
CB2 Receptor: Cannabinoid receptors concentrated in the immune system and peripheral tissues. Associated with anti-inflammatory effects.
CBG (Cannabigerol): The “mother cannabinoid” — THCa and CBD are biosynthesized from CBGa. Non-psychoactive with research interest in focus and anti-inflammatory applications.
CBN (Cannabinol): A cannabinoid produced when THC degrades with heat and age. Mildly sedating. Popular in sleep-focused cannabis products.
Certificate of Analysis (COA): Lab report from an accredited third-party laboratory confirming cannabinoid content, terpene profile, and safety testing (pesticides, heavy metals, microbials). Essential for any cannabis purchase. All Ghost Farms products include full COA documentation.
Crumble: A dry, honeycomb-textured cannabis concentrate. Produced through a longer, lower-temperature purge than wax.
Curing: The post-harvest process of slowly reducing cannabis moisture in sealed containers over weeks to develop flavor, reduce harshness, and stabilize the product.
D–F
Dabbing: Consuming cannabis concentrates by vaporizing them on a heated surface (called a nail or banger) using a dab rig.
Decarboxylation: The chemical process of applying heat to convert THCa into psychoactive THC (or CBDa into CBD). Occurs automatically when smoking or vaping cannabis.
Delta-8 THC: A cannabinoid with milder psychoactive effects than Delta-9 THC. Commercially produced through chemical conversion of CBD. Exists in a legal gray area.
Delta-9 THC: The primary psychoactive cannabinoid in cannabis. Federally Schedule I; legal in states with recreational or medical cannabis programs.
Diamonds: Pure THCa crystalline that forms during certain extraction processes. Can reach 99%+ purity. Base of liquid diamond vapes.
Disposable Vape: An all-in-one vape device pre-filled with cannabis extract that is discarded when empty. Modern versions include rechargeable batteries. Ghost Farms’ 7g disposable is the market leader.
Distillate: A highly refined cannabis extract that isolates specific cannabinoids by removing all other plant compounds including terpenes. Most common vape cartridge oil.
Endocannabinoid System (ECS): A complex biological system in humans and most animals that regulates numerous physiological functions. Consists of endocannabinoids, receptors (CB1 and CB2), and enzymes.
Entourage Effect: The theory that cannabinoids and terpenes work synergistically to produce effects greater than any single compound alone. Supports use of full-spectrum over isolated products.
Flower: The harvested, dried bud of the cannabis plant. The most traditional consumption format.
Full Spectrum: Cannabis extract that preserves all naturally occurring cannabinoids and terpenes from the source plant, supporting the entourage effect.
G–L
Gram: Standard unit of cannabis measurement. Typical prices range from $8–20/gram for flower depending on quality tier.
Hash: Compressed cannabis resin. Traditional concentrate produced by separating trichomes from cannabis plant material.
Hemp: Cannabis plants containing less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC by dry weight under the 2018 Farm Bill. Legal federally; basis for CBD, THCa, and hemp-derived products.
HHC (Hexahydrocannabinol): A hydrogenated form of THC with unique psychoactive properties. Legal in more markets than Delta-9 due to its different chemical structure.
Indoor: Cannabis cultivation in fully controlled indoor environments. Associated with highest quality, most consistent buds, and strongest terpene development.
Indica: Cannabis strain classification traditionally associated with sedating, relaxing body effects. Modern science attributes these effects more to terpene profiles than pure genetics.
Infused Pre-Roll: A pre-roll joint enhanced with cannabis concentrate (kief, live resin, or oil) for significantly elevated potency.
Kief: The fine, powdery trichome crystals that separate from cannabis flower. Can be collected in the bottom chamber of a 4-piece grinder.
Limonene: A citrus-scented terpene associated with mood elevation and stress relief. Abundant in Runtz, Gelato, and Wedding Cake strains.
Linalool: A floral, lavender-scented terpene with strong calming and anti-anxiety properties. Abundant in Zkittlez and Purple strains.
Live Resin: Cannabis extract made from flash-frozen fresh plants, preserving maximum terpene content. Superior flavor versus traditional extracts. Used in Ghost Farms’ premium vapes.
Live Rosin: Solventless extract made from fresh-frozen cannabis using only heat and pressure. The “cleanest” extraction method.
Liquid Diamonds: THCa crystalline dissolved in terpene sauce. Maximum potency plus full terpene flavor. The premier extract for premium vapes.
M–R
Microdosing: Consuming sub-psychoactive doses of cannabis to access subtle benefits (focus, mood, pain relief) without impairment.
Myrcene: The most abundant terpene in most cannabis strains. Earthy, tropical aroma. High myrcene associated with sedating “couch-lock” effects.
Nug: Individual cannabis flower bud. “Top-shelf nugs” refers to premium whole buds (versus shake or trim).
Ounce (oz): 28 grams. Standard bulk cannabis purchase unit.
Phenotype: The physical expression of a cannabis plant’s genetics. Different phenotypes (phenos) of the same strain can express different aromas, effects, and appearance.
Pinene: Pine-scented terpene associated with mental alertness and focus. Found in Jack Herer and Blue Dream.
Pre-Roll: A commercially produced joint — cannabis flower rolled in paper with a filter tip by a manufacturer. Ghost Farms pre-rolls use premium flower, not shake.
Rosin: Solventless extract produced using heat and pressure only. Clean, full-spectrum, increasingly popular for its purity.
S–Z
Sativa: Cannabis classification traditionally associated with energizing, cerebral effects. Best for daytime use, focus, and creativity.
Shake: Small pieces and fragments that fall off cannabis buds during handling and storage. Lower quality than whole buds — used in many budget pre-rolls.
Shatter: A brittle, glass-like cannabis concentrate. One of the most potent and stable concentrate forms.
Terpene: Aromatic compounds in cannabis (and all plants) responsible for distinctive smells and flavors. Also influence the cannabis effect profile.
Terpinolene: A floral-herbal-pine terpene associated with energizing effects. Dominant in Durban Poison and Jack Herer.
THCa (Tetrahydrocannabinolic Acid): Raw, non-psychoactive form of THC in the living cannabis plant. Converts to psychoactive THC when heated. Federally compliant when hemp-derived. Available from Ghost Farms with nationwide delivery.
THCp: A naturally occurring cannabinoid claimed to bind CB1 receptors with dramatically higher affinity than THC. Very potent in small amounts.
Trichome: Tiny hair-like structures on cannabis buds that produce and contain cannabinoids and terpenes. The “frosty” appearance of premium buds is trichome coverage.
Vape Cartridge (Cart): A pre-filled cannabis oil cartridge that attaches to a 510-thread battery. Refillable battery + replaceable cart format.
Wax: Soft, malleable cannabis concentrate with an opaque, waxy consistency. Made by agitating BHO during the purge process.
